What is Biblical Counseling? |
|
|
|
|
|
| |
|
The best word in
Scripture comes from the Greek word nouthesia. In
Colossians, the Apostle Paul helps us envision what a counseling church
looks like, "...we preach, admonishing every man, and teaching every
man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ
Jesus." (Col. 1:28-29). In Nouthetic Counseling, God's
word is used as the standard and guideline; not secular textbooks,
Christian self-help manuals, psychotherapy, "words from the Lord", or
personal opinions of the counselor. The goal of FFBCC is that
each person who comes for help would be "filled with all joy and
peace in believing the God of hope, so that by the power of the Holy
Spirit they may abound in hope." FFBCC will help the
counselee cultivate self-discipline, spiritual maturity and personal
responsibility, without usurping the Biblically defined authorities in a
person's relationships. FFBCC counselors are all either certified
members of the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors, or are in
the process of being trained in Nouthetic Counseling. |

What Biblical Counseling is not: |
|
| |
|
|
|
| |
|
Biblical counseling is
not involved in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, or counseling that
is defined as mental health services. A written release is secured
from each counselee acknowledging that they are seeking, and that FFBCC
is providing Biblical counseling and Biblical counseling, only. |
