I was 15 years old
when I responded to God's call to salvation and was born again (John
3:3). For nearly a year beforehand I heard and saw the marvelous
transforming power by God in the salvation of my parents, sister and
brother. My family and other Christians spoke to me numerous times of
the gospel message that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, had come to earth
to live a sinless life and to die on the cross for my sin. I tried not
to act interested thinking that this message didn't apply to me but I
knew God was "tugging at my heart".
One Sunday morning, I knew the
message being spoken (by a man named Al) was the message that God was
speaking to my heart. I realized that by trusting Jesus Christ as Lord
and Savior of my life that I would be forgiven and be free from the debt
of my sin and that He would always be with me. By the grace of God I
committed my life to loving and serving Jesus that day. Because of the
love and compassion that God has shown me, He has given me a desire to
love Him first and foremost and then to love and serve others
(1John4:7-21).
God has blessed me with my
beautiful wife Tammy, and my precious children, Brandon, Aaron and
Sarah. He has also given me an awesome church family to serve and
worship with. I praise the Lord that He has called me to serve as an
Elder. I pray that I would always serve in a character of humility but
in the boldness of the spirit with the Bible as my source of Truth and
prayer as my source of Power. It is also my personal prayer that I
would daily have the convictions and desires as the Apostle Paul did
when he was divinely inspired to write, "that I may win Christ, and be
found in Him..."(Phil. 3:8b,9a). Praise the Lord that He gives us the
righteousness of Jesus Christ at salvation! May we always grow in the
richness of His grace and mercy. |
